Yosemite National Park

Today we went into Yosemite National Park. It took us about twenty minutes to get to the park from our campground, and another thirty minutes to get to our destination, Yosemite Valley. When we arrived, I was immediately suprised by what Yosemite Valley looked like. I imagined it to look like any other valley maybe with some mountains in the background, or cool waterfalls. But when we entered the valley it was like we were in a canyon with giant cliffs on either side of us. I also didn’t know that half-dome was in the park, I had heard of half-dome in books but i didn’t know that it was located in Yosemite.

After parking our car near Yosemite Village, we went to visitor center. We had some time to explore the visitor center while my dad waited in line to talk to a ranger. When it was our turn to talk we got our Junior Ranger booklets, and asked about some hikes. We stuck with the rangers recommendation an took the 3 mile round trip hike up to Vernal Falls. Even though it was only 3 miles there was a 1000 foot elevation gain, so it was not an easy hike. It was all uphill on the first half but the second half was almost all stairs! In the end it was definetly worth the hike. the falls were really cool and also quite loud, they sounded like a rockfall! After the hike ,due to all the traffic around the valley we had to wait a very long time for the shuttle to arrive. When it finally arrived, we took it back to our car and drove back to our campsite.

Then we ate pizza.

The red/orange in this pic is where the sun is shining. Believe it or not, i didn’t use any filters!

  1. well pizza at the end made it all worthwhile! That hike sounds very challenging, glad it was worth it and that I didn’t try it! Thanks for the fun anniversary celebration, loved it and so good to see all of you again and find you so happy! Praying for you all everyday and love you a lot!

  2. My goodness AJ I think Yosemite looks like the most picturesque place yet.
That is one “lucky duck” to live there. Poor Luci I know how it feels to need to pee and have no toilet! Great pic.!
