Preparing for Halloween

Today we started our Halloween preparations. That included Costume making and pumpkin carving. I apologize that your program will have to be suspended, due to the Astros going into extra innings. Ok, I’m back. So, I am going as a vending machine for Halloween. I knew that it was going to take a long time to make, but I must admit, it took me longer than I had imagined, and by the end of the day, I wasn’t even half way done. All I had done was cut and spray painted the cardboard! Today, right after homeschooling, I went outside and started working on it again, I cut an painted a few more pieces of cardboard, taped some paper on cardboard, made duct tape numbers, and finally put some pieces of cardboard together. after about three hours of work, I made some serious progress. Now all I have to do is cut some holes for various body parts, put candy in the front, and tape a few more pieces of cardboard, and then I’ll have a vending machine!

as I clearly stated in the beginning of the first paragraph, we also carved pumpkins. I was never a huge fan of carving pumpkins, in fact it was just two years ago that I successfully carved a pumpkin by myself.  This year was harder than most years, because I was constantly distracted by the Astros game, but I pulled through and carved a pumpkin!

Cuttin’ the cardboard.
Lucia “helped” me for a while.
Pumpkins! Mine has a mustache, in case you didn’t notice.

  1. We celebrated Hope’s BD last night so missed the game. Who do you want to win? We want LA because they were papa’s fav’s when he was a kid, I guess one needs a reason, right? Let us know what each of your costumes are with pic’s. and where you will trick or treat!

  2. I heard the game was AWESOME!!! Sadly, dad made me go to bed at 9:30, sooooooo sad. GO ASTROS!! I’ve never liked the Dodgers, I don’t know why.

  3. For those who are wondering, I am going for the Astros, because we watched the Dodgers beat the Reds earlier in the year, in Cincinnati.

  4. Love the Jack-o-lanterns. I never enjoyed carving but that is becasie 1. I am too impatient and 2. we didn’t have the nice little carving knives they now have and digging out the inside is gross! You worked so hard on your costume. Can’t wait to see the finished product and to hear about your t or t experience in general! Goooo Dodgers (sorry)!
